What? The Elk Grove Debate Team participates in Congressional Debate. We simulate the format and consider the issues of the United States Congress.
When? The debate season runs from September through April. We practice twice per week on Mondays and Wednesdays after school and compete all day on Saturdays once a month.
Where? We practice in room 245 and compete at high schools and colleges across the country.
Why? Debate is a competitive speaking activity that provides participants an opportunity to develop speaking, researching, argumentation, and networking skills. Colleges look at debate experience very favorably because debaters develop important higher level thinking skills. Debaters learn a great deal about important issues facing our state and our nation. Also, because we attend tournaments all across the state, you will meet many other students from other schools who share similar interests as you. Finally, debating is FUN!
How? See Mr. Bohnenkamp in room 245.
